He made Johnny look so ordinary. It's almost like what John Jones did in his weight division, he made top fighters look so ordinary. I think that Robbie Lawler is too one dimensional for Wonder Boy. I really don't like to have to say that but that's the way that I really feel. Stephen Thompson is going to take that belt away from Robbie, and real soon too.
ReplyDeleteIt'll be a battle. Thompson won't last.
ReplyDeleteLawler is gonna have a tough time with Thompson for sure. Gonna be a good one
ReplyDeleteThompson definitely looked great. But I think the wars with GSP, Condit, Brown, and twice with Lawler look to be catching up, all this on top of the IV ban. Johny looked like he was in a dream the entire fight. I don't know if he was really relaxed, but his foots peed wasn't the same as when he fought GSP or Martin. I know leading up in the promos he honestly sounded a little punch drunk to me. It's really sad to see, but I really hope to see Thompson-Lawler. Stephen definitely showed he can fight a south paw with ease. Lawler's weakness has always been against great kickers or guys who implement a lot of volume with kicks. Johny had a lot of success in the first fight against Lawler because he kicked him a ton to the legs and body over 5 rounds. Rory had great success with kicks, with the snap kicks to the body early and then going up high; nearly finishing Robbie. But Robbie always has that equalizer, the big power in left straight and right/lead hook. All it takes is one or two solid punches and it can change a fight, that's pretty much what he did to Rory; another technical kicker. Absolutely hope that is the next fight at UFC 200.
ReplyDeleteWonderboy, simply the best... so simple!
ReplyDeleteI feel like Thompson vs Rory will be more of an exciting fight to watch considering the similar reach advantage and how both fighters like to fight distant. Not saying that Robbie won't put on a show coz he always does. And hopefully Rory wins coz i would really like to see Rory vs Robbie III, he deserves it after that last fight.
